BVB Business Network: the digital heart of a community

Challenge

Borussia Dortmund wanted to make its business network digitally tangible: a place where companies from all kinds of industries exchange ideas, build contacts and develop business — carried by a shared connection to the club.

The challenge lay in the balancing act. The platform had to carry the unmistakable brand world of a Bundesliga club and at the same time serve as a working meeting point for a growing business community. Access had to be simple, the experience premium, the brand always present — and the onboarding of new members so smooth that interest quickly turns into membership.

Solution

It started with a communication strategy that translates the club’s corporate identity into a distinct digital language. From it we developed the visual identity of the network — a visual and expressive language that combines the essence of a business network with the energy of BVB without slipping into the obvious.

A purpose-built animation shapes the first impression and creates a dynamic, inviting atmosphere without letting go of brand control. From the very first second a presence emerges that visibly belongs to Borussia Dortmund and at the same time radiates the credibility of a business network.

Technically, an intuitive registration form forms the core for new sign-ups. Personalised access based on QR codes and individual mailings guides prospects specifically into the network and enables onboarding that feels personal rather than anonymous. Every invitation thus becomes a direct, traceable path into the community — from first contact to active member.

Design, technology and strategic communication mesh throughout: the platform is not only attractively designed but consistently built for registration, recognition and connection. Content, interactions and brand management are coordinated so that the platform is perceived as one coherent whole.

Collaboration & delivery

Working with Borussia Dortmund called for a fine feel for brand management. Every design element had to fit into the club’s strictly maintained visual identity while giving the business network a face of its own. In close coordination we balanced this step by step instead of imposing a finished solution.

Technically, the priority was onboarding that runs as smoothly as possible. QR codes and individual mailings are not an end in themselves but guide prospects to the right access without detours — a detail that helps decide whether new members are won. We deliberately kept the paths short so that curiosity turns into a sign-up as directly as possible, and built the system to carry reliably even as membership grows.

As a digital agency from Dortmund, this project was more than an assignment for us. The closeness to the club and the region makes the BVB Business Network a reference that shows our roots in the Ruhr area as much as our ability to translate demanding brand worlds into digital form — and to turn them into tools that members actually use day to day.

Result

The result is a digital community meeting point that translates brand values into a user-centred solution — and makes networking tangible beyond the traditional level.

For Borussia Dortmund the platform strengthens brand identity while fostering the community of affiliated companies. It is a prime example of how the combination of design, technology and strategy creates a place where brand and membership work together instead of side by side.
